FAQ's

  • How do I book online?

Choose your film and time from the list on the website. You will then be presented with ticket types. Select which you would like, choose your seats and then follow instructions on payment by credit card.

  • How do I pick up my tickets?

Bring your reference number (print it out to be safe) and present to any cashier or ATM on site and your tickets will be printed off.

  • Is there a booking fee?

    Not at Light Cinemas.

  • Can I cancel my booking?

Once you have confirmed our booking then payment has been taken and you cannot refund the ticket.

  • What age is a child ticket for?

Guests aged 17 and under are considered as child prices for our cinema. However if you look a little old for your age you may be requested for ID. It is up to you to provide this to get a discount. No ID  then no discount and the Managers decision is final.

  • How do I qualify for student tickets?

For student pricing you must provide a valid NUS card with photo at time of purchase or pick up. No ID then no discounts. Managers decision is final.

  • What is a family ticket?

Either 2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children. Family ticket is a package of 4 tickets only and they cannot be split into smaller amounts.

  • Do you charge extra for 3D films?

No we do not. But 3D glasses are required for 3D films. We do sell both Adult and Child versions at the cinema for £1.50. These can be used again at any future screenings of 3D films at our cinema.

  • Can I take a baby to the cinema?

We strongly discourage babies in arms to the cinema (except our special baby screenings) as the loudness of most films is not a good environment for them. We will allow for U and PG films starting before 7pm.

  • Do you participate in Orange Wednesday?

Yes we do. Please follow this link to their website for more details.

  • What do the certificates mean?

    Universal

It is impossible to predict what might upset any particular child. But a 'U' film should be suitable for audiences aged four years and over. 'U' films should be set within a positive moral framework and should offer reassuring counterbalances to any violence, threat or horror.

    Parental Guidance

Unaccompanied children of any age may watch. A 'PG' film should not disturb a child aged around eight or older. However, parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger or more sensitive children.

    12A

No-one younger than 12 may see a '12A' film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. Responsibility for allowing under-12s to view lies with the accompanying or supervising adult.

    15

    No-one younger than 15 may see a '15' film in a cinema.

    18

No-one younger than 18 may see an '18' film in a cinema.

  • Do you have wheelchair spaces?

We have wheelchair capability in all screens. Although if you have special requirements it is advisable to contact the cinema in advance.

  • Do you accept the CEA card?

Yes we do and details of the scheme can be found on their website which can be found by clicking on the link here. The scheme offers free tickets to carers of disabled guests. Unfortunatly as the card must be shown at time of purchase these tickets cannot be bought online.

  • Can my children attend without a parent or guardian?

For U and PG certificate films only before 7pm. After this time we require all children to be accompanied.

  • How long are ads and trailers before a film?

It depends on the film. As a rule we tend to have ads and trailers running between 15 and 20 minutes prior to film start. Previews often have no advertisements so we strongly suggest you are in your seats prior to the advertised programme start time so you do not miss anything.

  • When do you advertise film times on your website?

Normally we will download our film schedule on the Tuesday preceeding the Friday of release. On big films we may do this earlier as demand will be higher.

  • How can we use Gift Can Vouchers?

If you have received one of our gift cans with vouchers inside, you can redeem them at any till within the building.

Drink vouchers are valid for any fountain soft drink, or a hot drink of your choice.

Food vouchers can be used for popcorn, nachos or hot dogs. The size is detailed on the ticket. If you want to buy a bigger size you can pay the difference and upgrade.

For tickets for films please exchange the voucher for a film of your choice. No restrictions on day, time or type of ticket. These vouchers are only valid for films. They are not valid for private screenings or alternative content such as opera or ballet live broadcasts. Unfortunately you must redeem vouchers in person and therefore they cannot be used to book online.

  • What are your ticket prices?

If you go to our 'about us' section on this website all prices are listed.

  • Why can't I choose my seat?

You can select the seat you'd like for nearly every show. However we do not allocate seats for the Kids Club because it is not necessary. Nor do we allocate seats on Orange Wednesday this is because most customers buy their tickets at the till - you can't redeem an Orange code online. Seat selection takes extra time and leads to longer frustrating queues on this our busiest day.
